If you’ve hired any employees to become part of your team then you’ll have to register for PAYE.
You’ll also need to register for PAYE if you’re a sole director and paying yourself a living wage (rather than dividend payments) from the income coming into the business.
- If you’re paying yourself a salary, as a director of the company, then HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) still needs you to collect the requisite income tax and National Insurance contributions on that monthly salary.
- And, as your start-up grows, you’ll have to do the same for every new employee who joins the team.
Xero online accounting has a payroll function built in as standard, and can record all the personal details, salary information and workplace pension contributions you’ll need in order to run a regular payroll.
We’ll help you set up your Xero Payroll, and can even run the whole monthly payroll cycle for you, if you need us to.
