When you register a limited company, you must also have a registered address for the business and give addresses for the directors of the company.
- What’s the company’s registered address? This doesn’t have to be the location where you work and trade, but must be a registered postal address where official mail can be delivered and legal papers can be served. Your registered addressed must be shown on your website, letterhead, invoices and all official documents.
- What’s a director’s residential address? A director’s residential address is usually their home address. It’s filed with Companies House but isn’t searchable in the public domain – your director’s address will be held on a private register which is only available to predetermined organisations.
- What’s a service address? A director can also opt to use a ‘service address’ to receive communications from third parties about the company. This service address can be the same as the registered company address, or the director’s residential address, or it can be another different address.
